As cold as winter is, it’s still one of the best times of the year to pull out the fancy winter-themed decorations and I’m sure you’re already quite busy decorating your home.

If the last place to decorate is the front door to be fully prepared for the season.

I have a few fantastic options you can choose from to decide what to hang on the front door for winter some of which are Christmas-themed but most are just winter-related.

There are a number of brilliant decorations you can hang on your front door for winter and those include wreaths, pinecones, garlands, wooden signs, snowman ornaments, a big red bow to even fun letter monograms, and even a mistletoe.

If you’d like to see the full list of decorations you can hang that will make your front door look exceptional this winter. I think you will take quite a liking to it and you’ll be spoilt for choice.

Here are my favorites you can try:

Things To Hang On Your Front Door For Winter

1. A Winter Themed Wreath

Nothing says winter more than a beautiful wreath. To take things further, make a winter-themed wreath by adding all kinds of decorations that scream winter.

This is one of the best ways to decorate the front door and one of the cheapest ways as well that look incredible standing on its own.

2. A Large Bell

If you have a large gold or silver bell, you can tie it to your front door with a red ribbon or add it to the wreath if you plan to hang that as well. This will make a fantastic display that you’ll surely feel proud of.

But if you just want to decorate your front door in a simple way that won’t cost much, then go for this bell option. It will definitely do the job.

3. Snowflake Wreath

Here’s another wreath idea except for this time it’s a wreath in a snowflake shape and it will give off that typical winter vibe.

The great thing about this wreath is that you can continue using it throughout winter and for Christmas as well so it saves time and effort on redecorating.

You might have to make this one a diy project if you can’t find a snowflake wreath in store but if you need a step by step tutorial, here’s one that I highly recommend you try this one below from Lacee’s Space:

4. Basket

Baskets are a good option if you have nothing else to use and you don’t want to go out to buy something, especially for this purpose.

You can grab a woven basket or any basket that looks cute and you can fill them with faux flowers or leaves.

Basically, anything that will make it stand out.

Tie a ribbon around the basket or a bow to make it look extra special.

5. Pinecone Ornaments

Hanging Pinecone Wreath

This is something you will see around a lot when it comes to decorating for winter or Christmas since it’s versatile. Pinecone ornaments are always front and center and they do go with the theme.

For this idea, you can grab a few pinecones and string them together to create a lovely hanging display. You could even add some twigs and leaves to make it look fancier.

I forgot to mention that you can also fill a basket with pinecones for the idea above this one.

If you’re creating a wreath, you can also use different-sized pine cones to decorate that as well.

6. Garlands

Here’s another easier option to go for to hang on your front door and that’s a garland.

You can find these in any store or perhaps you can create your own garland featuring some of the trinkets mentioned above. Whichever option you find works for you is good enough.

7. Red Christmas Sock

You might already have a large Christmas sock from last. Grab an old one or a new one from the store and hang it on your front door.

Add a few more accessories such as a small bell or a wreath that goes behind it.

However, when Christmas is over, you may need to replace this sock with something different to keep the winter theme going.

8. Wooden Signs

Wooden signs are great for hanging on your front door and you can easily customize these to look in a particular way.

You can paint pictures on these wooden signs or write a few kind words depending on what kind of look you’re going for.

If you’re in the mood to create a full display, you may hang other ornaments with these wooden signs.

Big or small, it doesn’t matter. A wooden sign on your front door is sure to catch some attention.

9. Large Bow

If you really have no other means or options but all you have is a large bow, then why not hang this on your front door?

You can use any color you like but you can also create a bow with burlap.

Either way, a bow will look pretty cute hanging on the door despite not adding any other accessories or ornaments to decorate.

10. Tree Wreath

Here’s another creative way to decorate your front door for winter and that’s by creating a tree wreath.

This decoration piece can be used all throughout winter and you’ll never get bored looking at it.

You can go for a large or small tree wreath and perhaps add a few decorations to it so that it resembles a Christmas tree quite closely and this will make it even more fun.

11. Snowman Ornament

Cute Snowman Ornament

Winter is all about the snow and cold weather and a snowman is the best way to represent it.

Hang a snowman ornament on your front door to show your creative side!

This is a great idea if you’re looking for something cute and adorable.

12. Mistle Toe

Hanging Mistletoe On Front Door

Mistletoes can be hung anywhere so why not hang them on the front door? If you already have a mistletoe, this saves you from getting one.

Grab your old one and put it up. I think you’ll really like how it looks on the door and it will only take you a few minutes to install.

13. Letter Monograms

For a really creative and new object to hang on your front door, you can make use of letter monograms.

Either make your own or get them custom made but this is a great way to add a fun element to the decor.

These letter monograms can also be included in all of the above options to accompany them and create an epic display on the front door.

14. Burlap Wreaths

The last option I have over here is to hang a burlap wreath. If you weren’t fond of the previous wreath ideas listed above, then burlap wreaths may be your thing.

They’re easy to install and they do look fantastic! You can include faux berries and leaves to create a fun ornament display but it’s totally up to you.

Conclusion

Did you find everything you were looking for? There are so many great options that I’m sure it’s going to be hard to choose but you can include a bit of everything if done right.

Just be sure not to create a display that is overcrowded with too many mismatched items.

Generally, the right limit would be two or three items included together like a wreath, pinecone, and a wooden sign for example.

There are plenty of ways to get creative if you think out of the box however even if you choose just one of these ideas, I’m sure your front door is going to look incredible either way.

You really don’t need that many items for it to stand out.
