5 Beginner DIY Projects I Highly Recommend Starting With
Do you ever find yourself frustrated while trying a popular DIY project only to find you’ve completely underestimated how difficult or time-consuming it’s going to be? I’ve been there a few times.
Delving into the world of crafting your own handmade items can be fun and exciting however there are a few drawbacks.
A project may look simple and easy to begin with but once you really get started, it’s easy to get lost and confused when the instructions are unclear or too advanced for your skills.
This why I’ve taken this step to create this list of the best DIY projects you can immediately try that will also help upgrade your skills from a beginner DIY enthusiast to a level higher.
I would love it if you guys had the best diy projects that are easy, fun, and simple but also turn out well rather than investing time in something that could flop and be a waste of precious materials.
And I think you’re going to love what I have to share with you.

Best Beginner-Friendly DIY Projects
1. DIY Coaster Using Leftover Yarn
I made this colorful yarn coaster a few weeks back and it was so fun to make.
These coasters will make an awesome gift for a friend or loved one but they also add a cute new feature to your decor.
Place them in your living room, kitchen, or on the bedroom nightstand and they will instantly stand out.
All you really need is some scraps of yarn, glue, and a backing to glue the string on.
Apply the glue to the surface and place the string according to any design or color scheme that interests you. Yup, it’s that simple. As long as the glue is strong, the yarn will hold to the surface.
I suggest placing something heavy over the coaster to make sure the yarn dries flat to the coaster.
All in all, this is one of the best projects you can start with if you’ve never attempted a DIY project before or if you’re looking to make something quickly.
2. Cute Terrarium

If you’ve never made a terrarium before, you my friend are sadly missing out. This terrarium could be exactly what your desk or bedroom shelves need to lift it up.
For this tutorial, you’ll need:
- Sand
- Pebbles/rocks
- Succulents
- Cute Toys/Ornaments (optional)
Instructions:
- Begin by filling the jar with sand until it reaches halfway.
- Then place the stones and pebbles towards the back and side of the jar.
- Go ahead and plant your succulents on one side.
- Finish up by covering the rest of the soil with the pebbles.
- Place one large rock behind the succulent and next to the succulent and then top it off with your cute characters.
There’s nothing better than having a cute little accessory to show off your artsy side.
Terrariums are generally really easy to make. As you can see, it’s mostly to do with gathering the supplies and filling up the container or jar to a suitable arrangement and you’re done.
You could even create a faux plant if you’re not up to maintaining the succulents and it should look just as great.
3. Dipped Milk Bottles
These dipped paint bottles look amazing and they make the perfect centerpieces or ornaments for your home.
They’re also relatively easy and cheap to make. In fact, you could easily repurpose an old bottle and turn it into this cool and chic flower vase.
4. A Tea Cup Fairy Garden
I’m a huge fan of fairy gardens and you can’t deny how adorable they look.

5. Easy Candle Guide
I’m sure you’ve been recommended tons of candle tutorials by now but there’s a good reason for it. Making a candle is a simple, easy process that literally anyone can do and succeed at.
You also have a variety of different candles to choose from but the most satisfying thing about making a candle is the process and end result.
Once your candle has set, it’s quite a feeling to be left with something solid that you’ve created.
Trust me, if you’ve never made a candle before or perhaps you’re hesitant to do so, now is the time to get started.
I’ve attached a short video from Cosy Owl that will help you learn the process of making a candle from scratch which I believe will be of great use to you.
