How To Sew A Mouse Pad
The last mouse pad I’ve been using has been looking quite old and worn down lately. However, I’ve been really wanting an opportunity to sew my very own mouse pad, so this came at the perfect time!
Sewing a mouse pad is such an easy and quick sewing project that anyone would love. It’s basically like sewing a pot holder, since the method is the same.
If you’ve sewn a pot holder before, then I’m sure you’ll recognize the steps below.

I’ve gone ahead and filmed the entire process of sewing this mouse pad from start to finish.
All you need is a bowl or a round shape and your fabric! It’s that simple.
(If you’d like to customize it further, you could quilt it as well for extra detail!)

Instructions

Step 1: Place a bowl on your fabric. Use a fabric chalk or marker to outline the shape of the bowl onto the wrong side of the fabric.

Step 2: Once you have your circle, cut the fabric.

Step 3: Repeat this step for the batting and your second patterned fabric piece.

Step 4: To begin assembling your mouse pad, place your patterned fabric piece onto the batting.

Step 5: Now, place the other patterned fabric circle on top of that with the right sides facing.

Step 6: Pin the fabric to hold it in place. Mark a small section on the circle. You want to leave this area unstitched for turning out.

Step 7: Go ahead and sew the piece. You can use 1 cm or 0.5 cm seam allowance.

Step 8: Make tiny snips all around the circle.

Step 9: Use the opening to pull the right side of the fabric through.

Step 10: Next, use your finger to open out the fabric while following the curve.

Step 11: Fold the raw seam inside and pin. Then give the piece a quick press with the iron.

Step 12: As a final step, add a topstitch to the mouse pad. This should also close the opening.

You’re done!

Wrapping Up
It’s such a simple process to sew a mouse pad. I’m really happy with how mine turned out. It’s way cuter than expected, and you can use any fabric you have to sew this.
The great thing about this mouse pad is that it’s reversible, so you can always switch things up by flipping the mouse pad to the other side when you feel like it.
This mouse pad is pretty light, and the mouse moves fine on it.

However, if you want a thicker pad, simply add more layers of batting. But if you’d like a thinner mouse pad, then consider using Vilene instead.
This should work quite well in helping you achieve what you want.
I do hope you plan to sew your own mouse pad using my tutorial. If you found these steps easy to follow, please do let me know in the comments below!
