7 Quick And Easy Home Improvements For An Upgrade
I’ve been going through a bit of a home makeover phase this last month in hopes of having a new start in 2019. So often, we plan a ton of New Year resolutions to lose weight and make more money but we spend very little time making a change to our homes and I find that to be a missed opportunity.
Why? Well, unlike a New Year resolution that requires a lot of time to see results, making stylish improvements to your home can be done relatively quickly.
When you wake up and find yourself marveling at the fresh new look of your room or the beautiful repurposed work desk, it’s going to breathe new life into your home and you.
So, without spending a ton of money hiring people to change your house or sharing a list of curated posts, I’ve decided to go off on a tangent and try something different by publishing a few ideas I have for home improvements you can make without breaking the bank or your back.

Easy Home Improvements To Try Right Now
1. Add A Painted Feature Wall To Your Bedroom
When you’re looking to make an eye-popping change to your room, I would advise you to look at your walls because it’s kind of the first thing you see when entering a room.
Last year, I changed the wall I placed my bed in front of to a dark grey with 3 horizontal stripes that are eggshell white.
They bled straight into the other white walls creating a very cool feature wall effect.
2. Swap Carpeted Floors For Decorative Vinyl Sheets
Just because you spent a ton of money tiling your floors a few years ago doesn’t mean you’re stuck with those tiles for the rest of your life.
I know, it can be costly to remove and replace tiles which is why I offer you the idea of using vinyl flooring.
It’s pretty cost-effective, comes in a ton of elegant designs that mimic a wooden floor finish and they can be applied on top of your pre-existing tiles which means you don’t have to pay a ton of money to a contractor. You can pretty much do it yourself.

There are two options for vinyl flooring – peel-and-stick tiles or vinyl sheets that have no adhesive to them. Both are strong, durable, and attractive.
3. Sand Down Varnished Furniture For A Cleaner Makeover
Quite recently my dad got a hold of this used desk and gifted it to me for my home office. I love it except that it has this dated orange-like varnished finish. It just doesn’t tickle my fancy.
Instead of painting or getting rid of the desk, I decided to sand it down for a more natural lighter wooden finish.
It looks so much better and I’ll most likely use a clear coat varnish in the future.

4. Add Self-Adhesive Wall Tiles/Stickers To Your Lounge, Kitchen Or Bathroom
Another attractive but slightly pricier option to style your walls can be wall tiles/stickers. I’m sure you’ve seen people use these brick-like wall tiles for their entertainment areas or in their kitchens.
They’re stunning and elegant. It’s something I want to use in my lounge if I can find the right color within the next week.
5. Dye Wooden Furniture
Earlier I mentioned sanding down a wooden desk to get rid of a dated finish with scuff marks and scratches but what I failed to mention is that you can just as easily give wooden furniture a complete makeover with dye and paint.

6. Change Your Curtains And Duvet
I know this one comes as no surprise but you can just as easily change your curtains and duvets for a quick and stylish room makeover.
The goal is simple, find a new complementary color for both and beautiful designs to add a dash of freshness to your room.
7. Add This Herb Garden To Your Kitchen
Nothing adds life, freshness, and color to a boring dreary room like plants and flowers. If it has leaves and is alive, you have yourself a winner.
I adore this kitchen herb garden because it’s very easy to maintain, grows every year, and can be used when you’re cooking.
