How I Decorated A Glass Jar With Clay Flowers
I am so excited to show you this simple and adorable technique to decorate a glass jar with clay flowers.
If you ever found yourself wondering how to make a cute accessory for your space, I’ve got you covered.
You can transform any plain glass jar into a beautiful decorative piece that will look amazing on any shelf or counter.
Making these flowers is also a fun activity on its own and you can use the air dry clay flowers for any future projects you have in mind.
Here’s a quick overview of how we’re going to be decorating a glass jar: First we’ll use a small piece of light pink clay to create the petals of the flower. Then, we’ll join the petals together and place a small round ball in the center.
We can then begin once we have all of the air dried clay flowers we need to decorate the jar.
Sounds good? Let’s get straight to it then!
Supplies
- Glass Jar
- Clear Glue
- Air Dry Clay: White/Light Pink, Red
How To Decorate A Glass Jar With Clay Flowers
- Begin by kneading a piece of pink polymer or air dry clay until soft.
- Break the clay into 5 smaller pieces as this will form the petals.
- Grab the first piece and roll it into a small ball using the palms of your hands and fingers.
- Press the ball down lightly and shape the top of the piece to create a pointed, tear-drop shape. Repeat this process for the remaining 4 pieces until your petals are complete.
- Take the first petal and place it in your hand. These pieces will be delicate so you’ll have to take extra care when handling them.
- Take another petal and join it to the first. Go ahead and pair another petal until you have something that looks like a clover leaf.
- Add the final petal to create your flower.
- Press the petals together lightly to ensure they stick together. Shape the sides of the petals to give the flower a bit more dimension and shape.
- Then, grab a small piece of red clay and roll it into a ball. Place the ball in the center of the flower and you’re done.
- Create at least 12 small pink flowers to cover the entire area of your glass jar.
- If you’re using air dry clay, the flowers need to dry for at least a couple of hours to ensure they are firm enough to be glued to the jar. For polymer clay, you’ll need to bake the piece in an oven and wait until the piece has cooled.
Now it’s time to glue the flowers to the jar using a strong clear glue.
Grab your first flower and glue it to the top of the jar.
Continue gluing the rest of the flowers on the jar, leaving a bit of space in between each flower.
Once you have completed this step, set the glass jar aside in a safe place for glue and flowers to dry completely before using it.
