Building The Rolife DIY Miniature House: My Experience
My brother gifted me this adorable Rolife DIY miniature house building kit for my birthday and although I couldn’t wait to dive in, I did have some hesitations that led to me putting off this project for a while.
Now, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this kit but just glancing at the instructions, I could tell that this was going to require dedicated work, effort, and time to complete the house.
Not that I’m complaining.
With the overthinking aside, once I began building the first item, I thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of it.
I was totally and completely engrossed in the entire process which is great if you’re looking for an activity or hobby that will help get your mind off things but you get an immediate sense of satisfaction with each completed item that you make.
To be honest, I kind of regretted not starting sooner.
It’s a great hobby to keep your hands and mind busy!
Here’s how my DIY miniature house turned out:
My Rating: 4.5 / 5 Stars
But as I predicted, these tiny items can take anywhere between 20 minutes to over an hour!
So, if you’re wondering whether this mini house is worth making, the answer is an obvious yes!
I can wholeheartedly say that this was truly a rewarding experience.
With that said, let’s take a closer look at this miniature house project:
Rolife Flowery Sweets & Teas Miniature House Kit Review
Details
- 184 Pieces
- Size: 220X149X170mm
- Scale: 1:24
- Assembly Time: 10 – 20 hrs
This particular building kit is of a tea/coffee shop.
You’ll be tasked with assembling each detail, item, and structure of the building including making tiny grass pieces, flower pots, chairs, signs, tables, stairs, and a cute arrangement of coffee and tea essentials.
If you want to make this a simple and quick process that feels less overwhelming for beginner crafters, I suggest narrowing your focus to building one item at a time.
You don’t have to begin by following the exact layout or items as directed by the instruction leaflet.
I picked out a few pieces that I felt were simple, easy, and fun and was certain to complete in a small chunk of time and began with that.
For this kit, I knew the cabinet and coffee items would be a fun little piece to knock off fast and that’s what I did.
But you can do it any way you like!
Let’s dive deeper into the pros and cons:
The Good | The Bad |
---|---|
A fun and enjoyable hobby/craft | Tiny items that can be hard to grip |
The final product is worth the effort | Lots of gluing and painting of wood pieces |
Really cute and creative designs | Some confusing instructions |
The colors look amazing | Time-consuming |
Not much wirework | The teapots can be slightly difficult to make |
Comes with everything you need | Some wood pieces are too thin and can break when removed from the template |
As you can see, these kits do take a lot of time which is probably the whole point of it and the cons are not anything drastic to worry about.
With just a few hours or minutes a day, you can easily complete this mini tea house in a month or two.
I think the only mistake I made was rushing it.
I did get impatient to see all these cute pieces put together and I made the silly mistake of not making and connecting the lights.
I do wish I had spent that extra time on the lights but overall, I still love my mini tea house.
There was another specific obstacle I encountered where I messed up the piece below the ‘Old Time Label’ sign on the right, making it smaller than it need to be and the funny thing is that at the time of making that piece, I had no idea how I managed to mess it up.
I had to do some fixing to try to make it look okay but there was only so much I could do because most of the structure was already assembled.
But I think it looks okay since other parts of the miniature house grab your attention.
Would I Recommend This Kit?
Absolutely yes!
If you’re looking for a simple, easy project to start your miniature house craft, I think this is a fantastic project to begin with.
You don’t need any fancy or advanced skills to complete this project and this is the best kit you could go for if you’re starting your miniature house building journey.
I hope to begin my next project really soon and of course, include the lights next time.
In fact, I already have another kit lined upi, waiting to be built!
With that said, go ahead and treat yourself to this DIY miniature house kit.
Trust me, you’ll love it.
