What Color Should I Paint My Entertainment Center? (12 Options)
The entertainment center is one of the best rooms in a house. It’s a space for fun, relaxation and bonding. This means that it has to look and feel perfect. What I’ve learned in my years of blogging about home decor and interior design is that the color of paint used in a room can make or break it. So, with that being said, what color should I paint my entertainment center?
These are the best colors to use for your entertainment center:
- Cream or tan.
- White.
- Black.
- Grey.
- Orange or Amber.
- Teal.
- Crimson Red.
- Golden Poppy Yellow or Mustard.
- Stone.
- Brown.
- Midnight Blue.
- Forest Green.
Your entertainment center should match the rest of the room’s color scheme in terms of paint. Consider the color of your couches, tiles, surrounding walls and ceiling.
If the entertainment center will serve as the feature wall, you must be certain that the color complements the rest of the walls.

12 Beautiful Colors To Paint Your Entertainment Center
1. Cream or Tan
One of the most universally used colors of paint in homes is cream and/or tan. They’re easy on the eyes and ridiculously cozy.
Cream tends to pair well with white ceilings and most tiles, making it a popular choice for most homeowners.
Some homes, I’ve discovered, don’t look good with an entertainment center painted a color that contrasts with the rest of the space.
When you paint a feature wall or entertainment center a bright color, it tends to make a space appear to be smaller.
If your entertainment room or family room is small or narrow, it’s best to use one color on all walls.
In this case, cream or tan are good choices to create the illusion of more space.
2. White
As much as white is an extremely neutral color, paired against the right color or on its own, white appears elegant, clean and classy.
What makes white a good color to paint your entertainment center is that your accessories and devices will serve as feature pieces.
White allows objects of color to draw attention toward themselves. So, if you have a beautiful TV with a good wall unit or backlighting, paint your entertainment center white.
Eggshell white, pearl white and off-white are good colors for an entertainment center because they aren’t striking or too bright.
3. Black
It’s ironic how black and white are considered contrasting colors and yet they are both extremely classy and pair beautifully with each other.
Black is always elegant.
It stands out, especially when your entertainment center is painted black and the rest of the room is another color.
Black is considered sleek, elegant, and moody which is perfect for those movie nights with the family during a winter’s night.
4. Grey
If you’re looking for a color that is not as bold as white or black, I would highly suggest opting for grey.
It is a versatile color that is neither understated nor too loud.
If you would prefer a light color for your entertainment center, opt for lighter tones of grey. But if you want something deep and eye-catching, opt for a charcoal grey color of paint for your entertainment center.
Let’s face it, most electronics are either black or white in color.
Against grey, both those colors stand out and blend together beautifully.
5. Orange or Amber
For someone who enjoys bright colors, orange or amber is an amazing choice of paint color for your entertainment center.
It’s a bold, lively and unique choice that can look superb under the right circumstances.
For an entertainment center to be painted the color of orange or amber, you need to pair the surrounding walls with a complementary color.
As it turns out, shades of tan pair well with orange as well as olive green, purple, red and even brown.
In some cases, you could use orange with charcoal grey as well, but you have to be really careful with the tones of these colors.
6. Teal
Have you ever seen a mixture of blue and green as a paint color for walls? Trust me, it’s ridiculously elegant.
In fact, at one point, my own bedroom had a feature wall that was painted teal which was one of my favorite colors of all time.
Teal is a unique color and has to be paired with the right color to look good.
Bright white, pink, navy and cream are suitable colors to match with teal paint.
7. Crimson Red
When it comes to using red in a home, commit to it completely or don’t use it at all.
A light or washed-out red never looks good on walls. It cheapens a room and appears as an undercoat for an incomplete wall.
This is why I suggest that you opt to paint your entertainment center crimson red.
It’s a deep, bright and stunning tone of red that looks unbelievable against or with black and charcoal grey.
8. Golden Poppy Yellow or Mustard
Golden poppy yellow or mustard work well as the color for an entertainment center.
It’s inviting, warm, bright and uplifting.
It’s the type of color that sets the mood in a room and draws all eyes to it.
The trick with using yellow as a paint color for your entertainment center is to opt for slightly rich and deep tones.
When you pair accessories and devices like a TV against a light yellow, it looks mismatched and too combative with each other.
This is why I suggest that you stick with these deeper and darker tones of yellow. Just make sure that it matches your furniture and couches.
Mustard isn’t as versatile as most of the other colors on this list, so please keep that in mind when making a decision, but in the right setting, it looks gorgeous.
9. Stone
I know that the color of stone can look like cement, but if you choose the right tone or finish, I promise you that it can look amazing.
If you’re interested in that industrial look for your entertainment center, you won’t go wrong with the color of stone.
10. Brown
The issue with brown is that the wrong tone can easily be compared to mud or something worse if you get what I mean.
You have to be extremely careful in your selection but if you choose the right tone of brown, especially an earthy tone, it can look fantastic.
I’ve noticed that brown paired with walls that are painted tan, cream or stone mix well with each other.
11. Midnight Blue
Anyone who has an eye for colors will tell you that midnight blue is considered one of the most elegant and fashionable colors.
It is one of the few colors used by most automobile companies, phone companies and even interior designers.
The trick is to always opt for a tone of blue that is dark, deep, and rich. Stay away from baby blue or sky blue.
They don’t look elegant enough for an entertainment center.
If you think about most cinema centers or theater stages, you’ll notice that deep reds and dark blues are always used.
That’s because of the rich, elegant and luxurious feel of these colors in a room.
12. Forest Green
For a more eco-friendly, natural and lively color, paint your entertainment center forest green.
It falls into the category of colors that are considered elegant for a home if you opt for a deep and dark tone of green.
I find that green works really well with black and as we mentioned above, most accessories and devices are black.
If you have black couches as well, you can definitely opt for forest green paint.
Concluding Remarks
Whatever choice you make, it should be something that feels and looks good to you. As much as we want to adhere to certain rules about the color of paint for a room, it’s important to cater to ourselves first and foremost.
Personally, I love the idea of adding some color to my entertainment center and I’d enjoy a teal background.
